NoMAP Signs MOU with SHS Companies to Pilot Off-Grid Payment System
NoMAP has signed MOUs with five Solar Home Systems companies to finance and manage their integration into a network of cash collection agents across the country to facilitate PAYGO payment collection in off-grid communities. The integration is aimed at addressing challenges limiting PAYGO SHS companies from reaching last mile communities. NoMAP is working with SWIFTA, a payment aggregator with more than 20,000 agents across the country to ease the challenges PAYGO companies face in collecting subscription from their unbanked customers.
The integration process has commenced and it is expected to span six weeks after which NOMAP will collect data over a six-month period to assess the impact of the integration on the companies’ default rate, sales, expansion, churn and customer satisfaction. NoMAP hopes to share lessons learned from this pilot with off-grid at the end of the intervention.
